This 11”x14” plein air painting was completed for the Ohio Plein Air Society’s 19th Annual Plein Air Competition in Mansfield, OH. The scene is an overview of Malabar Farm in the Pleasant Valley area of Richland County from the Mt. Jeez overlook. The farm is still a working farm and a designated state park. Many scenes from the movie The Shawshank Redemption were filmed in and around here. The scene is very bucolic, and I loved capturing the gently rolling fields and forested hills.
