The grounds of the Kingwood Center Gardens provide an abundance of great plein air inspirations. I was drawn to the strength of this ivy-covered arch at the entrance to the carriage house. The back lighting from the sun makes it seem more imposing, but the ivy softens the presentation. The whole time I was painting this, I kept envisioning horse-drawn carriages coming through.
This was another work completed during the OPAS19th Annual Plein Air Competition and was my official entry into the main juried show.
